Heritage Home to hold Victorian stroll

SCHENECTADY — To celebrate the 150th anniversary of The Heritage Home for Women, a “Stroll Back in Time” will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 9. The fundraiser encourages participants to wear Victorian garb and obtain monetary pledges.

The Costumer is offering 10 percent discounts toward rentals and purchases of items for this event. The stroll will begin at 1519 Union St. end at the original Heritage Home at 237 Green St.

Senior Center activities set

NISKAYUNA — The Niskayuna Senior Center, 2682 Aqueduct Road, will offer the following.

  • CDCHP Chair Pilates, 11 a.m. Fridays Aug. 17, 24, and 31.
  • Open Art Studio, 10 a.m., Aug. 24.

CHR Fest on Aug. 25 to benefit cancer patients

SCOTIA — The annual CHR Fest 2018 will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 25 at the Guan Ho Ha Club, 1451 Rector Road. Admission is $30 per person and children under 12 are free.

The event will feature a pig roast, food, entertainment, raffle and 50/50. All proceeds will benefit patients battling brain cancer. To make a donation, checks should be made payable to “3rd Annual Christopher Ciancetta Memorial Fund,” c/o Trustco Bank, 286 Saratoga Road, Glenville, NY 12302.

Rotary forum to address alleviating local poverty

SCHENECTADY — The Niskayuna Rotary will host a community forum focused on alleviating local poverty, the mission of Schenectady Community Action Program (SCAP). The event is set from 7:15-8:15 a.m. on Aug. 21 at the Blue Ribbon Restaurant & Bakery, 1801 State St.

Woodlawn group set for annual cookout

SCHENECTADY — The Woodlawn Neighborhood Association will hold its annual cookout from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday Aug. 22, (rain date Aug. 23), at Woodlawn Park, Kings Road and Ricci Avenue. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, salad and beverages will be provided.
Residents of Woodlawn and invited guests are welcome and are asked to bring a dish to share. The event will feature live entertainment by The Rogues, auction, 50/50 raffles, games and more.

Church barbecue slated

NISKAYUNA — A takeout-only Brooks’ chicken barbecue will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Aug. 22 at the Niskayuna Reformed Church, 3041 Troy-Schenectady Road, Route 7.

The cost is $12 for dinner and $8 for half chicken.
