Three cheers for the Niskayuna cheerleading squad, which took second and first places at weekend competitions.

On Jan. 27, the Silver Warriors headed north to Saratoga Springs High School, where they flipped and jumped to second place, besting Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake but placing behind Shenendehowa.

On Jan. 28, the team traveled to Guilderland, where they fared better, taking first place with Saratoga and Burnt Hills finishing second and third.

“I’m very excited for the kids,” said coach Denise Squadere-Deso. “They have worked very hard this season to improve their skills and master the requirements.

“We have tried to create a fun and dynamic routine that would showcase our skills in stunting and tumbling, and I’m hoping it’s really starting to come together.”
