Gazette staff report
NISKAYUNA — Motorists using Balltown Road south of the new roundabout at Aqueduct Road will need to seek an alternate route starting at 4 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7.
The state Department of Transportation will close that portion of Balltown (Route 146) until about 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, to allow for paving work related to the new roundabout approaches, according to a prepared statement.
The bridge will remain open during the work.
A posted detour in Niskayuna and Schenectady will take motorists along Providence Avenue to Rosa Road, then to Nott Street, to Van Vranken Avenue, and then to Aqueduct Road.
All properties up to the closure point on Balltown Road — which will be located south of the overpass for the Mohawk Hudson Bikeway — will remain accessible to local traffic from the south during the weekend work, according to the DOT statement. Work and the closure are weather-dependent.
