As of 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, three candidates had filed the appropriate paperwork to run for a single seat on the Niskayuna Central School Board of Education.
Brian Backus, Christina Calabrese and Noney Grier will face off in a special election on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The seat became available when Pat Lanotte resigned in July.
The board authorized the special election at its August meeting and interested residents had until end of business on Sept. 11 to file at least 44 qualifying signatures with the district’s central office.
Voters may cast their ballots at Niskayuna High School between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Oct. 10. The winner will serve out the remainder of Lanotte’s term which ends June 30, 2019.
