Gazette staff report
The Niskayuna Central School District’s Board of Education released a statement on Monday, July 17, announcing the resignation of board member Patricia Lanotte. The vacancy will be filled by a voter-elected candidate.
Lanotte was elected to the board in 2013 and according to the statement resigned for personal reasons.
During her tenure she served as chair woman of the Audit Committee and helped guide the district’s strategic plan.
According to state Education Law, the board could pursue one of two options to fill the vacancy: appoint someone to the position or hold a special election within 90 days.
The board is expected to opt for a special election which will be held by mid-October. Additional information about running for Lanotte’s spot as well as the date of that special election will be announced.
The statement went on to thank Lanotte for her service and dedication.
