HS baseball roundup: Niskayuna storms back for win

Niskayuna scored eight unanswered runs to come back and beat Saratoga Springs 8-3 in Suburban Council baseball on Monday.

The Silver Warriors held the Blue Streaks to three hits, but trailed 3-0 in the top of the fourth before the offense got it in gear, tying the game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Nick Insognia hit a two-run home run for Niskayuna, and Ben Funyak hit a double. Brad Hipsley hit a two-run single in the fourth for Saratoga.

Bethlehem shut out Guilderland 3-0.

Colonie scored three runs in the top of the sixth to break a 2-2 tie and win 5-2 over Columbia.

Brandon Kruzinski and Nate Toms each had two singles for the Garnet Raiders.

Ian Beauregard hit a double and two singles, and Peter Close had two RBIs as Christian Brothers Academy (11-2, 13-2) defeated Schenectady 9-1. Anthony Brown hit a double and a single for the Patriots.

Shenendehowa came back from a 4-0 deficit to beat Shaker 5-4 on Brendan Spulnick’s two-run single in the fifth inning.

Joe Palko was 3-for-4 for the Plainsmen, and Jordan Peltier hit a double for the Blue Bison.

Troy jumped on Albany early with eight runs in the first three innings and went on to win 13-6.

In the Foothills Council, Nick Thomas went 2-for-2 with a triple, and Matt Dagostino hit a double and a single as Scotia-Glenville beat Johnstown 5-4, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Brendan Scott and Mike Siano each had two hits and two RBIs as Queensbury (9-3, 11-4) defeated South Glens Falls
(6-7) 10-5.

Jared Thomas hit two doubles for the Bulldogs.

In the Western Athletic Conference, Fonda-Fultonville scored four runs in the seventh inning to defeat Canajoharie 4-0.

Dan Parslow threw a two-hitter for the Braves (8-3, 8-6), and Dylan Hamlen came in to induce a ground ball for the final out.

Parslow also hit two singles, as did Jackson Simpson, and Brady Myles hit a two-run single.

Fort Plain gave up four runs in the top of the first inning, but prevailed over Mayfield 8-4 as Drew Fureno went 4-for-4 with a double for the Hilltoppers (9-1, 11-2).

John Cortese hit a two-run double in the second inning for Fort Plain, and Brian Bentley hit a two-run double for Mayfield.

Andrew Drescher and Matt Gamache ombined on a one-hitter to as Duanesburg beat Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville 5-3.

Pat Mecham hit a triple as Berne-Knox-Westerlo beat winless Middleburgh 7-3.

Devin Garner had an RBI single for the Knights.

Brett Young hit a solo home run, and Danny Moshier was 2-for-2 with a double as Albany Academy (10-2, 11-3) rolled past Cohoes 11-1 in the Colonial Council.

Derek Becker hit a double for Cohoes (3-8, 3-9).

Patrick Foley drove in PJ Parker in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Voorheesville a 3-2 win over Cobleskill-Richmondville.

Ryan Daly hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first for the Blackbirds (6-5, 10-7). River Sisson hit two doubles and a single for C-R (2-11, 3-12).

Coeymans-Selkirk blanked Watervliet 7-0. Matt Ferriero was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Indians (8-5, 8-5), and Austin Novak had two singles.

Jared Aubin went 3-for-3 with two doubles to lead Waterford-Halfmoon to a 5-3 win over Stillwater in the Wasaren League. John Tedesco hit two doubles for Stillwater.

Blake Wiegert went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as Hoosic Valley defeated Hoosick Falls 10-4.

Saratoga Catholic swept a doubleheader with Cambridge, 13-5 and 16-2.

Jake Hart went 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs in the first game for the Saints (12-1, 14-2), Terel Tillman hit a triple and a single and struck out nine batter in five innings on the mound.

Hart had a triple, single and four RBIs in the second game, Nick Winslow hit a double and a single and Zac Cronk had a double and a single and scored four runs.

Joe Kosowsky went 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, and Donte Guzman also hit a home run and two singles as Lansingburgh
defeated Glens Falls 14-8 in a non-league game.

Five Amsterdam pitchers limited Galway to three hits in a 7-1 victory.

Dale Stanavich had two singles and two RBIs for the Rams (12-4), and Brendan McGillin and Robbie Spagnola each had two RBIs. James Hoffman hit a double and scored the only run for the Eagles.
