Nisky splits two CDYBL games

Niskayuna split a pair of Capital District Youth Basketball League games with South Colonie on Feb. 11.

The Warriors’ fourth-grade team won 33-28, handing the Raiders their first loss of the season. Ethan Gilson led Niskayuna with 16 points and seven rebounds. Brady Olsen had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Niskayuna fifth-grade squad dropped a 46-31 decision. Nick Thomas had 10 points for the Warriors.

The Schenectady Jewish Community Center basketball teams won three games in CYO play Feb. 4.

The fifth/sixth grade team had two victories. It beat St. Clements 40-35 and St. Thomas 49-25. Sam Booth excelled in both contests. He had 15 points against St. Clements, and 13 against St. Thomas.

Noah Castle added eight points against St. Clements. Adam Halpin scored 10 against St. Thomas.

The seventh/eighth grade squad earned a 32-17 win. Doug Gillooley led a balanced scoring attack with eight points.

Niskayuna’s seventh-grade team dropped a 42-31 Capital District Girls Basketball League decision to Burnt Hills on Feb. 12. Ryleigh Endres led Niskayuna with 18 points.

In other games against Burnt Hills, Nisky’s eighth-grade squad lost 47-36, the sixth-grade team won 42-27, the fifth grade unit earned a 47-11 victory and the fourth graders lost 14-12.
