— A rollover crash in Niskayuna Tuesday afternoon sent a driver to the hospital for minor injuries and shut Balltown Road for a time.

The crash also sent a wheel of the rollover car into the oncoming lane, causing minor damage to a second car.

The incident happened just before 1 p.m. on Balltown Road near Bentley Road, police said.

The driver, who was headed north, went off the road and struck a telephone pole and overturned, Niskayuna Police Chief Dan McManus said. That sent the wheel into the oncoming lane, striking the second vehicle, denting its fender.

Paramedics took the driver of the rollover car to the hospital for evaluation, but injuries are believed to be minor, McManus said.

Balltown Road was shut at 1:45 p.m. A tow truck had already righted the vehicle and a utility crew arrived on scene. McManus said he didn’t expect the Balltown shutdown to be extended.

The accident remained under investigation and no decisions on any tickets have been made, McManus said.
