NISKAYUNA- Before July 20, if kids at the Niskayuna Summer Camp program wanted to use a playground, they had to get a big group of kids together and walk to the complete opposite end of Avon Crest Park.

“But now, the counselors can just watch them right from the pavilion and they don’t have to walk all that way,” Town Supervisor Joe Landry said.

To celebrate the opening, the campers spent a few hours creating their own version of a ribbon out of construction paper.

Bringing together all the work of Julie Lohre of the Parks department and Ray Smith of the Highway department, town officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 20 to officially ring in the opening.
