NISKAYUNA- From 9 p.m. on July 15 to 6 a.m. on July 18, a portion of Route 146 will be closed, according to John Grady, resident engineer of the Rexford Bridge project.
There will be a detour directing traffic around Route 146 to Aqueduct Road, to Van Vranken Avenue, to Nott Street and then to Balltown Road. Grady noted in an email that the detour will be clearly signed to avoid confusion.
The Rexford Bridge will remain open throughout the road closure.
The temporary closure is scheduled to allow for roadwork on the new roundabout on the south end of the Rexford Bridge.
This is a part of the Rexford Bridge Project, a $32.5 million project that is expected to take two years.
Crews began working on clearing the area where the new four-lane bridge is set to be constructed on April 11 and heavy construction began in late April.
This is the first complete road closure that the project has required.
While crews are scheduled to keep the road closed until 6 a.m. on July 18, Grady hopes that the work will be complete by Sunday afternoon.
