The highlights: After trailing early, the Silver Warriors outscored Guilderland 17-5 after the opening period. In the win, Aidan Byrne and James Sexton each had five goals.

The highlights: Marisa DiVietro and Erin Doyle each scored six goals for the Silver Warriors in their season-opening win. Meghan Kirwan added three scores, while AlissaFranze had two goals and four assists.

Softball: Mohonasen 10, Niskayuna 9

Girls’ lacrosse: Niskayuna 19, Albany 0

The highlights: The comeback came up short in softball for Niskayuna, as a three-run rally in the seventh inning left the Silver Warriors one shy of tying the game. … In girls’ lacrosse, Niskayuna improved to 2-0 with a shutout of Albany. Marisa DiVietro had four goals in the win, while three apiece came from Annabelle Conover, Erin Doyle and Alissa Franze.

Boys’ lacrosse: Darien 20, Niskayuna 16

Girls’ lacrosse: Niskayuna 15, Guilderland 14

Boys’ tennis: Niskayuna 9, Mohonasen 0

The highlights: In a battle of 2015 boys’ lacrosse state champions, Darien (Conn.) emerged with the win. For Niskayuna, Dylan Pantalone had four goals and three assists, while James Sexton had three scores and three helpers. The loss ended a 17-game winning streak for the Silver Warriors. … Marisa DiVietro scored five goals and had two assists in an early-season statement win for the girls’ lacrosse team. … Taking 6-0, 6-0 victories for the boys’ tennis team were Elan Shaing and Jason Tang.

The highlights: James Sexton scored six goals for the boys’ lacrosse team, ranked No. 3 in this week’s state poll. Also for Niskayuna, Dylan Pantalone and Gallagher Gregory each had three scores, while Lucas Quinn had two goals and four assists. … Leading the boys’ track and field team was Joseph Quinn, who placed second in the 1,600-meter run.

The highlights: Lucas Quinn scored six goals and had an assist in the boys’ lacrosse team’s win. Mike Doxie added three goals and two assists. … Trailing 5-4 at halftime, the girls’ lacrosse team rallied to victory. Leading Niskayuna were Alissa Franze (five goals) and Marisa DiVietro (four goals, three assists). … In a dominant effort, the boys’ tennis team only lost one set to Shenendehowa. Leading Niskayuna were Jason Tang (6-0, 6-0) and Jared Rockcliffe (6-1, 6-1).

At the plate, Zack LeBlanc and Tyler Senecal each had two hits, with LeBlanc doubling and Senecal tripling. … Sylvia Canestrari had the lone hit for the softball team in its defeat. Niskayuna trailed 1-0 through four innings. … Rickey Dartawon, playing No. 3 singles for the boys’ tennis team, recorded an impressive 6-0, 6-2 victory.

The highlights: After falling behind 7-2 in the second inning, the baseball team roared back for its second consecutive win in extra innings. Dylan Sheely had two singles for Niskayuna and knocked in the game-winning run, while Nick Insognia and Angelo Spataro each had a double and a single. … After the softball team fell behind 4-0, Julia Favata has 12 strikeouts in six innings of relief and had a three-RBI double to help lead her team’s comeback. … Scoring a 6-0, 6-0 win for the boys’ tennis team was Noah Daviero in the dominant victory. … Recording second-place finishes in individual events for the girls’ track and field team were Grace Minkin (100-meter dash) and Leila Nayar (long jump).

Niskayuna led 10-0 at halftime.

The highlights: The baseball team bumped its record to 3-5 after a seven-run fifth inning lifted the Silver Warriors to a comeback win. Conor Graham and Zack LeBlanc each had two hits for Niskayuna. … Seven boys’ lacrosse players scored multiple goals, with Aidan Byrne and Dylan Pantalone each scoring four to lead Niskayuna. James Sexton had three goals and three assists. … A 10-2 second half lifted the girls’ lacrosse team to a comeback win. In the victory, Alissa Franze had three goals, Maya Manchester made 11 saves and Marisa DiVietro had six assists to go along with one score.

The highlights: Leading the girls’ track and field team with first-place finishes were Abigail Spiers (1,500-meter run) and the 4×800-meter relay team (Sydney Smith, Sam Padula, Victoria Padula, Hailey Walters). For the boys’ track and field team, Charlie Ragone won the 1,600-meter run. … James Sexton scored six goals for the boys’ lacrosse team, while Lucas Quinn had four goals and six assists in the team’s Section II Class A quarterfinals win.

The highlights: In a stunning upset, the boys’ lacrosse team fell in the Section II Class A championship game. In the season-ending defeat for the reigning state champions, Mike Doxie scored five goals while Dylan Pantalone and James Sexton each had three.
