NISKAYUNA — Two hikers got lost in Niskayuna’s Lisha Kill Preserve Friday evening and needed firefighters and police to help them out, officials said.
The hikers were uninjured, but appeared to have gone into the preserve later than they thought and got caught inside after sunset, Niskayuna Fire District 2 Chief Charlie Friderici said.
The pair, in their 20s and dressed for the weather, called 911 at about 6 p.m. seeking help. They remained on the phone with dispatchers throughout. Friderici said the pair are from out of town.
Dispatchers used the cellphone signals to pinpoint their location in the preserve, Friderici said. They originally entered from Rosendale Road.
Firefighters and police had the pair out by about 6:30, Friderici said.
