NISKAYUNA — A look at the latest news in Niskayuna High School athletics.

BOYS’ HOOPS BOUNCES BACK

After a loss this past Tuesday to Shenendehowa, the Niskayuna boys’ basketball team bounced back with an 88-57 win Friday against Columbia.

Tommy Kelly led the Silver Warriors with 21 points, while Connor Detrick added 17.

The victory pushed the team’s record to 3-1.

HOCKEY SPLITS PAIR

After a 5-0 loss Friday to Beekmantown, the Niskayuna/Schenectady hockey team collected a 4-2 win Saturday against Plattsburgh.

In the victory, Evan Maloney and Max Ronesi each scored a pair of goals.

James Blanchfield made 37 saves in net for the Mohawks.

GIRLS’ BOWLING WINS

In a Thursday match against Saratoga Springs, the Niskayuna girls’ bowling team picked up a 23-9 victory.

For the Silver Warriors, Julia Favata (267-643), Morgan Richards (211-578), and Gina Voris (200-515) led the way.

In Niskayuna boys’ bowling action, the Silver Warriors came up short Thursday against Columbia. In a 21.5-10.5 loss, Dominick Favata led the young team with a 706 series.

BIG WEEK AHEAD

After a winless week against Shenendehowa and Columbia, the Niskayuna girls’ basketball team will play another pair of league games this week.

The 1-3 team will play host Tuesday to Colonie before traveling Friday to play Shaker.

In Niskayuna’s 61-46 loss Friday to Columbia, Olivia Owens scored 20 points and Deirdre Schutzman added 13.

WRESTLING

In a test this past Thursday against the area’s best, the Niskayuna wrestling team suffered a 63-15 loss to Shenendehowa.

For the Silver Warriors, Anthony Laniewski and Eoghan Sweeney collected wins in contested matches.

The team plays host Tuesday to Saratoga Springs.
