NISKAYUNA — Our rundown of the latest news concerning Niskayuna High School athletics.

DRAMATIC FINISH

With a dual-ending pin from Ethan Myers, Niskayuna wrestling topped Schenectady Wednesday with a 42-38 decision.

Also recording wins in competition for Niskayuna were Nick Budka​, Dante Romanucci, Anthony Laniewski, Eoghan Sweeney, and Reggie Melvin.

The Silver Warriors face Shenendehowa tonight.

SOCCER STARS HONORED

A pair of Niskayuna girls’ soccer players recently earned state honors for their play.

Marika Contompasis and Hannah Munro, both seniors, were all-state selections. Contompasis was a first-team pick, while Munro made the third team.

The Silver Warriors won the Section II Class AA title this year.

BOYS’ HOOPS HIT SPEEDBUMP

With a 76-53 loss Tuesday, the Niskayuna boys’ basketball team’s record moved to 2-1 after its meeting with Shenendehowa.

Andrew Evans scored 17 points in the loss for the Silver Warriors.

Niskayuna plays host Friday to Columbia.

WARRIORS FALL TO PLAINSMEN

After only trailing 16-10 after one quarter, the Niskayuna girls’ basketball team lost Tuesday 76-23 to Shenendehowa.

The loss pushed the Silver Warriors’ record to 1-2.

In defeat, Olivia Souky scored eight points.

BUSY BOWLERS

After losing 21-11 Tuesday to Shenendehowa, the Niskayuna boys’ bowling team picked up a 20-12 win Thursday against Saratoga Springs.

In the win, Dominick Favata led the way with a 279-755, while Evan Desso (241-636) and Michael Dean (245-623) also rolled well for the Silver Warriors.

Also Wednesday against Saratoga Springs, the Niskayuna girls’ bowling team collected a 23-9 win. Julia Favata led the team at 267-643, while Morgan Richards (211-578) and Gina Voris (200-515) helped the Silver Warriors along.
