SECOND-QUARTER BLUES

After a strong start, a rough second quarter was too much for the Niskayuna girls’ basketball team to overcome Tuesday at Ballston Spa in a 49-38 loss.

The Silver Warriors had a two-point lead after one quarter, but trailed 30-21 at halftime.

Olivia Owens and Olivia Souky led Niskayuna with 11 points apiece.

SWIMMERS OPEN 2015-16

In its season debut with new head coach Molly Chamberlain, the Niskayuna boys’ swimming and diving team came up short against Shenendehowa Tuesday in a 108-73 decision.

Before the meet reached exhibition status for Shenendehowa swimmer, Niskayuna received its lone solo win from Ethan Bachert in the 100 butterfly at 54.35 seconds.

STRONG START

In its first league match of the season, the Niskayuna girls’ bowling squad picked up a 27-5 victory Tuesday against Ballston Spa, as Julia Favata (220-625) led the way.

Also for Niskayuna — which outpinned Ballston Spa 2,919-2,462 — Morgan Richards (210-574) and Gina Voris (180-501) rolled well.

Wednesday, the squad was not as lucky, as Bethlehem got past the Silver Warriors with a 27-5 verdict. Favata (263-687) and Richards (170-493) again led Niskayuna, while Natalia Anapolis (186-470) had a strong performance.

TOUGH LUCK

Despite outpinning Ballston Spa (3,563-3,515), the Niskayuna boys’ bowling team started its season Tuesday with an 18-14 loss.

Leading the way for the Silver Warriors were  Dominick Favata (237-668), Marcus Manzoni (222-619), and Michael Dean (233-618).
