THE HIGHLIGHTS

Friday, Will Malerk returned a kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown in the Niskayuna football team’s loss; also in a loss, Niskayuna field hockey goalie Emma Skumurski made 16 saves and Brooke Cleveland scored the team’s goal.

Saturday, both the Niskayuna boys’ cross country and Niskayuna girls’ cross country teams competed at the Monroe-Woodbury Crusader Classic Cross Country Invitational. There, the girls had a strong performance as a team, finished in 2nd place in its division, with Amelia Kokernak (54th overall) and Katie Showers (96th) posting top-100 finishes in a 648-runner field; for the boys, Charlie Ragone (39th) and Joseph Quinn (89th) also had top-100 finishes in what was a 711-runner field.

Also Saturday, for the Niskayuna girls’ soccer team, Izzy Lynch scored the lone goal for the Silver Warriors in their win.
