Missing Niskayuna man found in Schenectady

A 68-year-old Niskayuna man who was reported missing Saturday afternoon was found safe early Sunday morning in Schenectady.

Edward Valente was found around 6:30 a.m. on Nott Street in Schenectady and is reported safe, Niskayuna Deputy Chief Michael Stevens said.

“Schenectady police located him this morning,” Stevens said Sunday. “He was reunited with his family. He was found in the area of Union College. He actually flagged down one of the officers.”

Valente was last seen Saturday around 3 p.m. at the Ingersoll Place residential facility located at 3359 Consul Road in Niskayuna. Police said he suffers from dementia and depression.

Valente’s family informed police that he owned a cellphone but it was unclear if he had it in his possession. The cellphone was pinged around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday to the area of Freemans Bridge Road and Sunnyside Road in Glenville, according to police.
