SCHENECTADY — Celebrity chef, author and TV host Sandra Lee will be the featured speaker at Ellis Medicine’s annual Women’s Night Out event this fall in Schenectady.

The hospital system’s fundraising arm holds the event each year to celebrate women and raise money for the Bellevue Woman’s Center in Niskayuna. It features a vendor fair, networking, dinner and educational panel on healthy lifestyle choices. This year’s event will be held Thursday, Oct. 1 at Proctors in downtown Schenectady. Tickets go on sale in August for $100 each.

Lee will draw upon her recent experience with breast cancer as part of her discussion at the event. She was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, and has since undergone a double mastectomy.

Lee hosts four culinary programs on Food Network and Cooking Channel, including Restaurant Remakes, Sandra’s Money Saving Meals, Semi-Homemade Cooking, and Taverns, Lounges & Clubs. She also hosts HGTV’s Sandra Lee Celebrates. She is the editor in chief of Sandra Lee Magazine and has written 24 cookbooks and a memoir called “Made From Scratch.”

She also works with a number of nonprofits and philanthropic organizations, including The Elton John Aids Foundation, Citymeals-on-Wheels, The Bowery Mission, God’s Love We Deliver, Food Banks across New York State and America and Central Park Conservancy. She is the national spokesperson for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign and a founding member of UNICEF’s Board of Directors, Los Angeles chapter.
