Niskayuna teams earn scholar-athlete status

NISKAYUNA — Four varsity sports squads for the spring season from Niskayuna High School were recently recognized as scholar-athlete teams by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.

To qualify as a scholar-athlete team, a pool of players from a given team must combine for an academic average of 90.0 or higher.

Girls’ track and field had the highest average this spring for Niskayuna with a combined mark of 96.38.


Four of Niskayuna High School’s varsity sports teams qualified as scholar-athlete teams this spring:

  • Girls’ track and field: 96.38
  • Boys’ track and field: 95.25
  • Boys’ tennis: 94.64
  • Girls’ lacrosse: 93.65
