4-year-old hospitalized after being hit by car in Niskayuna


NISKAYUNA — A 4-year-old Niskayuna boy was taken to the hospital yesterday after police said he ran into Hillside Avenue and was hit by a car.

Witnesses told Niskayuna police the boy ran into the path of a Toyota Sienna traveling east approaching Providence Avenue. Police said the boy did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, but he was transported by Niskayuna Fire District No. 1 to Albany Medical Center.

The driver of the Sienna, 58-year-old Rajkumar Pappu of Schenectady, and a passenger were uninjured. Police say Pappu was not speeding and that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. No tickets were issued.

A stretch of Hillside Avenue was closed for about 1 1/2 hours this afternoon while police investigated.
