NISKAYUNA — Five things to know about this weekend’s news and upcoming action for Niskayuna High School athletics:

  1. Abigail Spiers was brilliant at the eighth annual Warrior Classic, netting a win in the 800-meter run and with her 4×800-meter relay team. Several other athletes also had big days for Niskayuna track and field at its home invitational, including Charlie Ragone and Ericka Stewart.
  2. Before losing Saturday and Sunday, the Niskayuna baseball team picked up a 3-0 victory Friday against Mohonasen. Mike Gabriele pitched the team to that day’s victory, while was followed by 10-1 and 9-7 defeats to West Genesee and Ballston Spa, respectively.
  3. The Niskayuna boys lacrosse team lost Saturday to St. Anthony’s, 8-6. Both teams are state-ranked.
  4. Cat Sexton continues to pile up assists for the Niskayuna girls lacrosse team, which won again Saturday against Bethlehem, 15-7.
  5. Baseball, softball, boys tennis, and girls track and field are all set to compete today — as long as the weather cooperates. Rain is forecasted for much of the day.
