NISKAYUNA — A man is facing a felony burglary charge after allegedly being caught in the act of burglarizing a house in Niskayuna, according to police.
Fardin M. Sharifipour, 43, was arrested Friday after police say a resident of Balltown Road arrived home to discover Sharifipour in his house.
According to a news release from the Niskayuna Police Department, the resident returned home around 3:30 p.m. to find an unfamiliar vehicle parked in the driveway. While en route, police were informed that the homeowner had gotten into an altercation with Sharifipour when he exited the house.
Neither Sharifipour nor the resident were injured in the altercation, police said.
Sharifipour then allegedly fled on foot and was apprehended by police a short distance away.
He was charged with one felony count of burglary in the second degree, criminal mischief and larceny.
He was arraigned in Niskayuna Town Justice Court by Judge Stephen Swinton Jr. and remanded to the Schenectady County Jail.
