NISKAYUNA — The Niskayuna Board of Education and Superintendent Search Committee have identified a finalist to be the next superintendent of the school district.
Cosimo Tangorra Jr., the State Education Department’s deputy commissioner for P-12 education, has been invited to visit schools, converse with interim Superintendent John Yagielski, and answer questions from the Board of Education as part of a final interview round.
Tangorra has a doctorate in educational leadership from the Sage Colleges, as well as a certificate of advanced study in educational administration from SUNY Cortland and a master’s degree in special education from The College of Saint Rose.
He has 10 years’ experience as a superintendent at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central Schools, Trumansburg Central Schools, Ilion Central Schools and Central Valley School District. He also has experience as a principal, administrator and teacher.
