Hockey: Mohawks lose in OT

SCHENECTADY — The Niskayuna/Schenectady Mohawks hockey team dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to Friday in the first round of its holiday tournament at Union College.

North Rockland emerged with the victory and advanced to today’s championship game against Essex Junction.

For the Mohawks, Lorenzo Cotugno, Josh Kim and Matt Peretti each scored goals, while Peretti also had an assist. Joining Peretti with assists were Trevor Carroll, Mike Fiore, Evan Maloney and Jake Miller.

James Blanchfield made 32 saves in net for the Mohawks.

The Mohawks will play today in the consolation game against La Salle Institute at the Schenectady County Recreational Facility. The contest starts at noon.
