Cycling fundraiser

NISKAYUNA — The Jewish Community Center of Schenectady will host a Cycle for Good fundraiser from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Dec. 21.

The fundraiser, one of many across North America on the same day, will collect donations for Etgarim, an Israeli military organization. Bikes can be rented at a flat fee of $15 per hour, and participants can cycle for one, two, or three hours. Anyone can join. For more information, call the JCC at 377-8803.

Selfie exhibit

NISKAYUNA — The Niskayuna High School’s Nisk-Art Gallery exhibit “Selfie: The Art of the Self Portrait” will open Monday, Dec. 22.

Chorus a-caroling

SCHENECTADY — From 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, the Electric City Chorus will perform traditional Christmas carols in front of Gershon’s Deli, 1600 Union St.

World War I program

NISKAYUNA — The Niskayuna High School Music and Social Studies departments are coming together to present “An Evening in History: A Commemoration of World War I through Historical Speech and Song.”

It will take place in the Niskayuna High School auditorium at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22. The interdisciplinary collaboration, which also includes the Drama Club at Niskayuna High School, will commemorate this year’s 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I. It will feature musical performances and dramatic readings.

Attendees are invited to a reception following the program.

Lacrosse clinics

NISKAYUNA — The Schenectady JCC will host its first girls’ indoor across clinic in early 2015 for first- through fourth-graders.

Classes are scheduled for Tuesdays, Jan. 13, 20 and 27, and Feb. 3, 10 and 24. The cost for all six lessons is $45, or $25 for members. Participants must provide their own lacrosse sticks and goggles. Prior experience in lacrosse is beneficial, but not required. For more information, call 377-8803 or visit schenectadyjcc.org.

NISKAYUNA — The following Niskayuna High school athletic events are scheduled:

  • Friday, Dec. 19, 7 p.m.: Boys basketball vs. Bethlehem
  • Saturday, Dec. 20, 3:10 p.m.: Ice hockey vs. Pearl River at Union College
  • Monday, Dec. 22, 4 p.m.: Girls bowling vs. Colonie at Boulevard Bowl
  • Friday, Dec. 26, 5:20 p.m.: Ice hockey vs. visitor TBD at Union College

Town Hall quiet

NISKAYUNA — No public meetings are scheduled by the town for the week of Dec. 19-26.

Town Hall will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 for the Christmas holiday.
