SCHENECTADY — Sections of Upper Union Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., starting Monday.
Local traffic will be allowed in, but no through-traffic will be allowed in the busy business corridor during the day.
The road will be closed for two weeks for pavement work, particularly at crosswalks and at the intersection of Union Street and Dean Street. It will reopen at night and when work cannot take place due to weather.
During the work, eastbound traffic will be detoured to Woodland Avenue and from there to Eastern Parkway. Westbound traffic will be detoured to Palmer Avenue.
Police asked drivers to find other routes rather than relying on the detours, because they anticipate long delays.
