The Niskayuna Warriors Cal Ripken team advanced through pool play to the quarterfinals of the World Series in New Jersey before losing in a tough game. “There were 36 teams left in the country playing at that time,” said coach Mike Kenyon.
The team put in a dedicated effort, even overcoming a couple of players’ absences due to strep throat. Overall, the team had a great time at the tournament and even got to visit Yankee Stadium and sit in the dugout.
“We try to teach the game the right way, to have them respect everybody and just go out and play and have a good time,” Kenyon said. “They always step up for us.”
