Brandon Liu, 6th grader at Iroquois Middle School, competed in the local Hershey Track and Field meet last Saturday 6/7 at Ilion, NY at Central Valley Academy.
He placed 1st in 1600m, 2nd for 100m and 3rd place for standing long jump for age 13-14 Boys.
Based on his results, Brandon was eligible to compete in the 28th Annual Hershey’s Track and Field Games-NY State Finals this past Sat 6/14 at Greene High School in Greene, NY. His results for NY State Finals: 3rd place for 1600m with 6:20 time. 5th place for 100m with 15.01sec and 5th place for long jump.
Although Brandon Liu is 12 years old, he had to compete at the level for 13 and 14 year olds. Most of the other competitors were a head or two taller than Brandon! Due to his size, a lot of spectators and judges thought Brandon was mistakenly in the wrong age group. He exceeded everyone’s expectations!
